This is the battlefield on which 51,000 soldiers became casualties in what remains the largest battle ever fought on the continent. This is the place where you can walk today and be inspired by the actions of the past and gain an understanding of how those actions impact your life today.

There are several ways to explore the 6,000-acre Gettysburg battlefield, and your battlefield journey should begin with the Cyclorama, Museum and Film Experience, offered exclusively at the Museum and Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park.

BY CAR

You can tour the battlefield in your own vehicle, using one of the following options:

Licensed Battlefield Guided Tour: Hire a personal guide who will drive your car and take you on a two-hour tour of the battlefield. Guides train for years and pass extensive tests to qualify to give tours. Guides are available daily, but advanced reservations are recommended.

You can also choose to purchase a CD tour for your car; they are available in the Museum Bookstore and are around $20.

BY BUS

Tired of driving? Leave your car and join us on a bus tour of the battlefield. A Licensed Battlefield Guide will lead your tour on a climate-controlled motor coach, and you will leave the bus a few times during the tour to actually walk on this hallowed ground.

Tours are offered throughout the day, and a Value Package featuring a bus tour and the Cyclorama, Film and Museum Experience, is available.
